How long have you been a proposal manager/specialist/writer?

Serena:  Eight years

How did you become involved
 with proposals?

Serena:  I initially started in marketing for a small engineering consulting firm providing marketing management and writing marketing materials.  Then I slowly began to transition into proposal development and writing over time.

Do you work in a “corporate office” or “home office” environment? 

Serena:  Corporate Office

What do you like best about working in your current environment? 

Serena:  I like the team environment in working to develop a winning proposal.  Whether I am working together with the subject matter expert or program manager, it feels good that we are united for a winning goal.

What do you like least?

Serena:  When original deadlines are not met as well as extended deadlines.

What do you feel is the most challenging aspect of your job?

Serena:  When assigned sections are not completed on time thereby reducing the time I have to work on finalizing the document leading me to work extra late hours to complete.

What is your method for successfully working with your proposal teams?

Serena:  Communicate needs and instructions in a clear, concise, and respectful manner and let each team member know how important their role is in the proposal process and show appreciation for it!
