APMP Question.
How long have you been a proposal manager/specialist/writer?

Janet:  approximately 15 years

APMP Question.
How did you become involved
 with proposals?

Janet:  I needed to go part time at my job and the only opening at the time was in the engineering department as a part time proposal coordinator.  After that I realized that I had a passion for the work and later a friend recommended me for a full-time Proposal Manager position with Nortel Networks.

APMP Question.

Do you work in a “corporate office” or “home office” environment?

What do you like best about working in your current environment?

What do you like least?

Janet:  Corporate office

Being around the people and working closely with each person involved in the specific proposal we are collaborating on at the time.

The drive to and from work and how late I get home each night.

APMP Question.
What do you feel is the most challenging aspect of your job?

Janet:  The amount of work and that I am the only proposal manager at Aquilex WSI.

APMP Question.
When did you join APMP?

Janet:  Jill Brock from Avaya recommended the certification program and joining APMP.

APMP Question.
What is your method for successfully working with your proposal teams?

Janet: I feel that humor goes a long way.  I threaten to “beat the crap” out of them constantly.  Also baking cookies doesn’t hurt.

APMP Question.
Which type of proposals do you do most? Commercial or government?

Janet:  Commercial.  Aquilex WSI does repair work at nuclear plants around the country and overseas.
