LaBrita: I have over 10 years of experience in the communications industry. Clinical, leadership and organizational development experience inform my competency based approach to communication best practice. |

APMP Question: How did you become involved with proposals? |
LaBrita: Through networking and information sharing, I became exposed to the proposal industry. On the advice of a colleague in the DC area, I visited the GA Chattahoochee Chapter’s meeting in 2008. Proposal professionals have sought my advice on a broad range of personal and professional communication topics. Applying my skills to help leaders, managers and virtual teams to communicate more efficiently in orals proposal presentations and interpersonal situations is both exciting and rewarding. |

APMP Question: Do you work in a “corporate office” or “home office” environment? APMP Question: What do you like best about working in your current environment?

LaBrita: I work remotely and in collocated settings based on client need. LaBrita: Working in virtual settings offers the ability to connect with people across geographical location, language, time zones and culture. LaBrita: There is no replacement for human interactions. Engaging with people helps to strengthen relationships and adds context to communications. |

LaBrita: Tapping into the APMP Body of Knowledge is a way to strengthen your awareness of concepts and refresh your awareness of practical strategies, tools and tips. |

LaBrita: I felt embraced by the supportive network of proposal professionals and believe in the visions and mission of the APMP International organization. |

APMP Question: What is your method for successfully working with your proposal teams? |
LaBrita: Developing self awareness builds trust and strengthens relationships. Working with teams requires a belief that there is a shared common goal or focus, fully committed members and inspired contributions from all members. Increasing personal self –awareness and interpersonal skills are necessary for making valuable contributions. |

APMP Question: Which type of proposals do you do most? Commercial, government or other? |
LaBrita: My role is to support proposal participants through communication coaching for personal and professional growth. I provide a comprehensive suite of services to help people communicate better. Whether individuals are aspiring to relate better with team members, overcome the fear of speaking publically or applying best practices for managing virtual teams, there is a best approach to improve communication. |
